Inside-out Forehand
Like most players, your forehand might be your best stroke. We are often more confident hitting groundstrokes using our forehands as compared to our backhands. By learning to hit the inside-out forehand, you can increase the chances of hitting the forehand shot, creating more opportunity for winners during your matches.
Footwork
You will need to have good footwork to execute the inside-out forehand effectively and consistently. You will have to move quickly around the ball, getting into the forehand position early. Once in position, the proper use of body weight and stepping into the ball has to be carried out in order to generate the much needed power to hit a winner. Without precise and quick footwork, this specialty shot would be ineffective and lack the necessary power to win the point.
Topspin
Topspin is critical in ensuring that there is consistency with your inside-out forehands. Since more time is needed to get into position for this specialty shot, the ball is often contacted below the waist. At this height, you will need to return with heavy topspin in order for the ball to clear the net comfortably, especially if you are going for down-the-line winners.
