Wilson Clash 100UL V1 Racket Review

The Wilson Clash series features a pair of technologies that work together to create the ultimate control in a lightweight, speedy frame. FreeFlex uses proprietary carbon mapping to generate new dimensions of frame bending, giving players free-swinging accuracy with every stroke. It is a series of rackets that does an amazing job at blending power, control and comfort.

The Clash 100UL is the lightest of the Clash series. I find that this new technology provides a unique feel and is highly maneuverable, which makes hitting at angles much easier. Although it is said to be a ‘control’ racket, I was able to generate sufficient power. A racket of this light weight usually lacks stability, but it was not that noticeable with the Clash 100UL on my groundstrokes.

As the racket is light it is easy to move at the net. It pockets the balls very nicely when hit at the sweet spot but it is apparent that the racket was lacking stability while playing at net due to its lightweight. However, in a slower pace game the Clash can execute volleys beautifully, with a crisp feedback.

The Clash is undoubtedly the most comfortable line of rackets to play with. The technology used in the Clash greatly helped in dampening the vibrations and provided maximum feel and control in my games. Although some players may find the feel of the Clash too muted, I enjoyed its feel.

The Clash 100UL is great for beginners and intermediate players looking to develop and improve their groundstrokes. It does a wonderful job at providing enough power and spin. For players who are facing issues in their arms, the Clash is definitely a stick to look out for due to its feel and playability. However, an intermediate-advanced player may want to look at the heavier rackets in the clash series for more stability in their shots.
