Yonex EZONE 100 (7th Gen) Racket Review

The racket has an Isometric head to maximise your sweet spot and boost power from every shot. This top-of-the-line racket also has Micro Offset for reduced vibrations and Hyper MG for increased stability - a winning combination that makes it a must-have choice for any serious player. The Ezone 100 is available in both blue and green.

Groundstrokes 7.5/10

The Ezone 100 racket is exceedingly manoeuvrable and offers remarkable access to power, yet it's not excessively bouncy. This makes it an ideal choice for players ranging from intermediate proficiency up through the more experienced players.

I have also tried the Ezone 98 and found that it provided more control due to its smaller head and heavier frame. However, it is easier to hit the sweet spot with the Ezone 100, making this racket one of the most versatile Yonex rackets out there. This racket allows you the flexibility of playing an aggressive baseline game or a defensive counter-punching style. It also provides both the manoeuvrability needed by intermediate-level players and the stability required by more experienced ones.

The Ezone 100 proved to be the secret weapon on my backhand as it provided me with ample power and helped me attain greater depth - an area I usually struggle in. But when hitting forehands, I found myself lacking a certain degree of control that the Ezone 98 offered.

The Ezone 100 provides a unique combination of the Babolat Pure Aero and Wilson Ultra 100's features. It offers an effortless power like the Pure Aero, but with greater control; while also having some elements of the Wilson Ultra in terms of control. 

With the Ezone 100, power is accessed easily without compromising other essential aspects of play. This racket truly stands out as it does not excessively centre on any one quality. In my opinion, this makes it a great option for any skill level and playing style. Comparable to the Pure Aero and Ultra, this racket is incredibly versatile which makes it perfect for all types of players.

As I reviewed the Yonex Ezone 100 for groundstrokes, I thought it deserved a 7.5 out of 10 - the same score as its sibling, the Ezone 98. Although I do believe that more advanced players will benefit more from using the 98 model racket, ultimately I had to acknowledge how versatile the Ezone 100 is which made me give it a higher rating.

Volleys 6.5/10

Generally, I wasn't impressed with the style of this racket at the net. Both in my playtest for the Ezone 98 and 100, it proved to be its weakest part - as expected from rackets of this relatively lightweight class since they are primarily made for today's baseliners.

Although the Ezone 100 is simple to manoeuvre at the net, it doesn't quite provide the required stability and feel necessary for optimum volleying. Thus, I wouldn’t advise using this racket if you're seeking exceptional performance in such an arena. For players of an advanced level, where the balls travel with great speed, a racket that offers more stability is preferable.

When it comes to volleying, the Yonex Ezone 100 seems to be slightly better than the Pure Aero but is far less solid compared to the Ultra. I think that of all rackets in this weight class, the Ultra offers by far superior performance when at the net. On a scale from 1-10, I'd give it a 6.5. If you're an average baseliner looking for a racket which will cover your needs then the Ezone does its job well.

Serve 8/10

These slick and powerful rackets are my absolute favourite. The Ezone 100 offers that extra boost to your serve game you've been looking for! It's perfectly balanced to give you the highest racket head speed, but still manoeuvrable enough to create power and spin with each hit of the ball.

While the Ezone 100 is not as powerful as the Pure Aero, it does have one major advantage - extra control. It maintains a balance between power and control which allows you to hit those slice or kick serves without sacrificing accuracy.

The relatively light weight makes it ideal for players just starting out, while experienced players can add extra weight as desired in order to get optimal performance and power. 

I appreciate the balance this racket provides. To make it even better, if I wanted to add any extra weight, then adding a leather grip and just a bit of weight on the racket head would be my go-to choice. Regardless of any modifications though, the Yonex Ezone 100 has much potential when serving - that's why it earned an 8 out of 10 for me during playtesting!

Overall Score 7.5/10

If you're a player who values power without sacrificing control, then this racket is an ideal choice. It competes in the same market as Babolat Pure Aero and Wilson Ultra - which are both very popular models - but I do believe it is comparable. All things considered, this racket will provide great value to all kinds of players.

This racket delivers plenty of power and spin in my groundstrokes. I discovered it to be most effective on my backhand side - enabling me to take full command over points with accurate depth and strength. 

When you hit the court with the Ezone 100, it does exactly what is expected of it. You could find a better racket for volleying purposes; however, if your goal is focused on groundstrokes then that doesn't have to be an issue. This racket offers more than enough for the average baseliner.

The Ezone proved its worth during the service playtest by providing power that was balanced with control. I managed to get in the groove with my first and second serves, and I did enjoy the serving experience. 

I would recommend the Yonex Ezone 100 to a variety of players; if you are already considering something like the Pure Aero, then I highly suggest considering this racket too. After testing it myself, I rate it 7.5 out of 10.
