Hubert Hurkacz Wins His First Title On Clay At The Estoril Open
Hubert Hurkacz secures his first title on the red dirt for the first time in his career at the 9th edition of the Millennium Estoril Open. He defeated Spaniard Pedro Martinez in straight sets winning 6-3, 6-4 in an hour and 26 minutes. Hubi dishes up a match with serving masterclass once again, this time on his weakest surface, clay.
A rather straightforward match for the second seed as he conquered Estoril comfortably in the finals against Martinez. Hurkacz did not face any breakpoints in the first set, firing 7 aces and concluded the match with ace number 15 in the second set to secure his maiden title on clay.
The pole now has won at least one title on each of the surfaces. He continues his remarkable performance in his appearance in the finals on the ATP Tour, winning 8 out of the 10 finals he made. Lifting the trophy in Estoril also marks his eighth career title. A significant win for Hubi this week as he kicks off his clay season with a good start. He will be moving up in the rankings back to a career-high of number 8 in the world. I look forward to his performance at the Monte Carlo Masters in the coming week.
