Alexander Zverev Back In Action And Ready For 2023

Alexander Zverev is ready and back in shape for the 2023 season after a 6-month hiatus since the freak injury at the semi-finals against Rafael Nadal at Roland Garros earlier this year, where he had torn all three of his lateral ligaments in his right ankle, requiring him to undergo a surgery to stabilize his ankle for recovery.

He initially wanted to make his comeback at the Davis Cup representing Germany but was forced to take another 6 weeks break as his injury had caused severe bone damage, and he didn’t want to risk straining it.

Now that he has recovered fully from the injury, he made his comeback at the Diriyah Tennis Cup exhibition in Saudi Arabia, where he won his return match against good friend Dominic Thiem 10-8,10-7, but failed to advance against former world no. 1 Daniil Medvedev.

He is now participating in the World Tennis League, where he beat Novak Djokovic, in a mixed-gender team exhibition event. He is part of Team Hawks alongside Dominic Thiem, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina.

It seems that the Olympic champion is more than ready to be back on tour and will make his official return at the United Cup representing Germany at the end of December.
