Mubadala World Tennis Championship 2022 Final

The finals of the Mubadala World Tennis Championship at Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates will be between the world no. 4 Stefanos Tsitsipas and no. 8 Andrey Rublev. The pair are no strangers to one another and have met on court 11 times prior to the upcoming meeting at the finals later today.

Stefanos Tsitsipas marginally leads their head2head 6-5. The meeting between them at the finals today would be their twelfth meeting. They had already squared off 3 times earlier this year.

Andrey Rublev is looking to win back-to-back titles at the MubadalaWorld Tennis Championship. Stefanos Tsitsipas is aiming to claim the title for the first time since narrowly missing it in a 3-set thriller against Rafael Nadal at the finals in 2019.

Stefanos Tsitsipas breezed through his matches against Cameron Norrie 6-1, 6-4 and World no. 3 Casper Ruud 6-2, 6-2. Andrey Rublev spent slightly more time on the court defeating Borna Coric 7-6 (4), 6-4 and World no. 1 Carlos Alcaraz 6-2, 6-1.

Stefanos Tsitsipas had a pretty good 2022 season but he was only able to convert 2 of his 7 finals appearances on tour while defending champion Andrey Rublev had a pretty consistent season with 4 titles and making it to the semifinals at the ATP finals.

Based on consistency this year, Andrey Rublev has a better chance of claiming the championship. However Stefanos Tsitsipas has been serving well and winning 85-90% of the first serve points in the last 2 matches, while Andrey only has 67% first serve points in the last 2 matches. If Tsitsipas is able to keep his service together and respond under pressure, he has a good chance to win as well. Their matches are always unpredictable as there is not much to differentiate between the 2 players.
