Serena’s Last Run For Another US Open Singles Title

Serena Williams, one of the greatest female tennis players of all time, has been hinting at her impending retirement after the season. Her appearance at the 2022 US Open could be her final one in her 27 year-long career! She’s currently 40 years of age and ranked 605 in singles, due to her absence from the court.

The GOAT Serena Williams is back at the US Open playing singles and doubles. She and her doubles partner (and sister) Venus Williams received a wildcard for the doubles event. Unfortunately, for the powerhouse duo with 14 Grand Slam Doubles titles under their belts, the Williams sisters were knocked out in straight sets 7-6 (5) 6-4 in the first round of the doubles match against the newly formed Czech partners Lucie Hradecka and Linda Noskova at the Arthur Ashe Stadium at Primetime on Day 4 of the US Open.

But fret not! It is not quite yet over for Serena as she is through to the singles 3rd round and she will be playing against 29 year-old Australian Ajla Tomljanović on Day 5 at the Arthur Ashe Stadium. Serena defeated Montenegrin Danka Kovinić in straight sets 6-3 6-3 in round 1, and then followed up by beating the current world no. 2 Estonian Anett Kontaveit in a 3-sets match 7-6 2-6 6-2 in round 2!

As she goes through to the 3rd round match, perhaps Serena will have a chance to bow out with another bang! To have a chance at winning what may become her 24th singles Grand Slam title and collectively her 40th Grand Slam Titles in singles, female doubles & mixed doubles!

We wish Serena the best of luck and regardless of the results, she has already sealed her reputation as one of the greatest female tennis players of all time!
