Nick Kyrgios Will Meet Daniil Medvedev In 4th Round Of The US Open

On 3rd September, the sixth day of the main draw at the US Open, the defending champion Daniil Medvedev and Nick Kyrgios both defeated their 3rd round opponents and they will be meeting at the 4th round on 5th September at the Arthur Ashe Stadium.

The current world no. 1 Daniil Medvedev went through Chinese player Wu Yibing in straight sets 6-4, 6-2, 6-2 while the 23rd seed Nick Kyrgios went through American Jeffery John Wolf also in straight sets 6-4, 6-2, 6-3. Their meeting in the 4th round match will be their 5th meeting and Nick is leading 3-1 in their head-to-head stats. Nick Kyrgios won their most recent meeting at round 32 of the ATP Masters 1000 Canadian Open just early last month with a 7(7)-6(1), 4-6, 2-6 victory.

Both players have been playing pretty well this year, especially Nick Kyrgios who made it to his first Grand Slam finals at Wimbledon and also won a couple of titles in both the singles and doubles events. 

Daniil Medvedev has been ranked world no.1 for 15 weeks in a row now, clinching 1 ATP 250 title earlier this year and just shy of few titles after losing the finals at the Australian Open against Nadal, at Halle losing to Hurkacz, and at Libema Open losing to Cam Norrie.

The clash between the top seed and 23rd seed is bound to be an exciting one! We will be expecting some intense moments between the two, both big servers and capable of hitting with accuracy. It will be a game of determination to see who will come up top, but Daniil is more likely to win if the match goes to a fifth-set, but then again with Nick anything is possible! Will Nick Kyrgios be able to knock out the defending champion in the 4th round? We shall see!
