Team World Bids To Win Their First Laver Cup Title
The 5th Installment of the Laver Cup held in London from September 23rd to 25th this year is a truly special one! From astonishing lineups, spectacular matchups and the final match of one of the greatest of all time - Roger Federer!
For the last four installments of the Laver Cup, Team World has not been able to overcome Team Europe to win the title. This year they brought out rising stars, young athletes, to try to win the title against the Big Four, and it seems that all is working out well for Team World.
With the defeat of Novak Djokovic by Felix Auger-Aliassime on March 11 on Day 3, Team World now leads 10-8, with the final two matches remaining, Team World might be able to bring home their first Laver Cup title.
One can’t speak about the Laver Cup this year without noting that we were able to see the Big 4. Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray are on the same team. This is truly a rare moment to be able to see them all together, playing side by side and not as opponents on court.
This is the last time we will get to see them play together on tour as Roger Federer finishes off his final match alongside long-time friend and rival, Rafael Nadal, against Team World’s Frances Tiafoe and Jack Sock in a doubles match. Ultimately, Federer and Nadal were unable to clinch the doubles win for their team.
Well, it may not have been the fairytale ending for Roger Federer but it is a good end to his fairytale 24-year long tennis career! Congratulations to Roger on his incredible career and we wish him all the best on his future endeavours and definitely hope to see him around!
Now, will Team World be able to clinch their first Laver Cup title in London this time? It seems possible at this moment!
