Novak Djokovic Is A 10th Time Australian Open Champion!
Novak Djokovic just claimed his 10th Australian Open Title after beating Stefanos Tsitsipas in straight sets 6-3, 7-6 (7-4), 7-6 (7-5) in just under 3 hours. This victory marks his 28th winning streak at the Australian Open since 2018 and he now equals Rafael Nadal with the most Grand Slam Titles (22) won.
Novak Djokovic now leads Stefanos Tsitsipas in their head-to-head meeting 11-2 with Novak coming out on top in their last 10 meetings including the AO finals. The AO finals marked their 13th meeting and despite the best efforts from Stefanos Tsitsipas, he was not good enough to stop the tennis giant.
Novak Djokovic is truly the King of Melbourne Park as reclaims the AO title after the whole deportation saga last year due to his vaccination status. He was very emotional as he went to his team for the celebration and considered the victory at this tournament the biggest one in his career.
Novak Djokovic will return to being the world no. 1, extending his record number of weeks (374) as the world no. 1. Despite his age (35 years old) he is moving and playing incredibly well. We don't really see the end of his run on the court yet and he can be expected to bag a few more of the slams as it seems like no one is able to stop him.
