Petra Kvitova Claims Her 30th Career Title In Miami!
Petra Kvitova wins Elena Rybakina in straight sets 7-6, 6-2 and claims her maiden Miami masters title after 13 attempts. She ended Rybakina’s 12-match winning streak and her dream of achieving a Sunshine Double after having won the Indian Wells title last month.
The two players are undoubtedly 2 of the biggest hitters on the WTA tour right now. The court was unusually fast in the humid weather of Florida this year, making their shots travel with more pace. Kvitova never made it past the quarterfinals at this event and with the conditions in her favour, she made sure to take full advantage of it.
They played a brutal 30-point first-set tie-break which ended in Kvitova’s favour after 20 minutes of going back and forth. Kvitova took advantage of the momentum from the first set and played great in the second set.
This win marks the two-time Wimbledon Champion's biggest win since Madrid in 2018 and her 30th career title. She will break back into the top 10 for the first time since September 2021.
