Carlos Alcaraz Defends His Title At The Spanish Capital!

Carlos Alcaraz defends his crown at the Mutua Madrid Open after defeating the German lucky loser Jan-Lennard Struff on home clay in 3 sets, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3. This title marks his fourth title of the season and 10th overall title.

The world No. 2 had to play his best tennis against Struff who was relentless and aggressive with his returns, but ultimately the young Spaniard was able to defend his title by winning the deciding set.

The young Spaniard is only the second player behind Rafael Nadal to win the Madrid title back-to-back! He will be looking to return to the top spot after playing the opening match at the Rome Masters and overtake Novak Djokovic on the ATP Pepperstone Rankings. 

Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic will miss the Rome Masters to recuperate from their injuries, missing the lead-up matches on clay prior to the French Open. It will be a good chance for the younger players to try to win the slam.

Carlos Alcaraz will be the favourite to win the Rome Masters and the French Open going into the events with an incredible win-loss record this season.
