Iga Swiatek Tested By Karolina Muchova At The Finals In Paris!

The World No. 1 and defending Champion Iga Swiatek survives a tough test put up by Karolina Muchova in the finals at Roland Garros. The Czech fought to bring the match to 1 set all and forced a deciding set. After an intense 2 hours and 46 minutes, the defending champion prevailed 6-2, 5-7, 6-4.

Karolina Muchova plays with great variety and has an amazing track record against top-5 players and has not lost to any she played against until she played Iga Swiatek in the finals of the French Open yesterday. 

Muchova put up a tough fight against Iga Swiatek, breaking her serve 3 times in the third set but Iga proved too strong on clay and broke back to level the score, holding at 5-4 before Muchova lost the game with a double fault on serve. 

Iga Swiatek remains on top of the WTA rankings as she clinches a second consecutive Roland Garros title. This victory makes her a four-time Grand Slam champion. She won her first slam in Paris in 2020, second in Paris in 2022, third at the US Open in 2022 and finally a fourth in Paris again this year. 

The Pole continues to thrive on clay and has a W-L record of 28-2 at Roland Garros. She has had an amazing year so far with a W-L record of 29-6, and will be looking for more wins going into the grass season.
