Casper Ruud Completes Hat-Trick After Winning Geneva For The Third Time

Casper Ruud secured a win against Tomas Machac in straight sets 7-5, 6-3 to lift the Geneva title for the third time in an hour and 47 minutes despite having to play 2 matches in a day due to the delay of his semi-final match against Flavio Cobolli. The win marks the Norwegian’s third trophy at the Gonet Geneva Open. He had also won the event in 2021 and 2022. Ruud makes history as he becomes the first three-time champion at the tournament.

Tomas Machac played an exceptional tournament, breaking new grounds. The 23 year-old secured his spot in his first final on the ATP Tour by defeating World Number 1 Novak Djokovic in the semifinal - the biggest win of his career so far. The Czech moves up to a career high ranking of 34 in the PIF ATP live rankings following his performance at this event.

The world number 7 Casper Ruud proves his flair on the clay as he secures the second title of the season in Geneva following his Barcelona title just last month. The former world no. 2 now has 12 titles and continues to lead the tour with the most wins in the season so far. Ruud is seeded number 7 at the French Open and will be facing the lucky loser Felipe Alves from Brazil in the first round match on Monday. As the two-time Roland Garros finalist, Ruud expected to go deep at the tournament once again.
