Novak Djokovic Completes His Career Golden Slam As He Wins His First Olympic Gold Medal In A Thrilling Final Against Carlos Alcaraz

Novak Djokovic finally wins his long-awaited gold medal in Men’s Singles after defeating Spaniard, Carlos Alcaraz, in the finals at the Paris Olympics on court Philippe-Chatrier in two thrilling sets 7-6(3), 7-6(2), spanning 2 hours and 50 minutes.

The match was without any breaks of serves, and it ultimately went the way of the far more experienced Djokovic as he bounced back from his Wimbledon final loss against Alcaraz. Alcaraz was making his maiden appearance at the Olympic Games representing Spain. It was a stellar performance by both, but Djokovic was sharp and better in important moments, causing Alcaraz to lose his signature smile as he became increasingly frustrated in the match.

The Serbian rewrote history once again. It is hard to believe that at 37 years old, after two decades on the professional tour, 5 Olympic appearances and 24 Grand Slams, he finally won Gold for Serbia, completing a career golden slam, filling the gap in his trophy-studded resume. He also continues to pull ahead of Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer in the title dominance as he adds one more to his resume.

The gold medal at the Paris Olympics marks Djokovic’s first big win of the season, as he has yet to win any tournament this season. It is also the first time in 14 years that he has not won any of the first three Grand Slams of the year. The Silver Medalist Alcaraz has much to take home after a tough loss. He played well but not good enough to defeat a very determined Novak Djokovic. I believe Alcaraz will win an Olympic Gold, but Djokovic the GOAT takes it this time!
