Carlos Alcaraz Loses The Hamburg Finals
Just last Sunday on 24 July at the German Open in Hamburg, top seed and the then World no. 6 Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz lost the final match against the Italian Lorenzo Musetti. The atch was really close and Alcaraz unfortunately was not able to edge out a win over Musetti. Ultimately, the Italian was able to clinch his first ATP title in Hamburg after playing all 3 sets in a two-hour and 47-minute game.
Alcaraz put on a great fight against Musetti in the second set, saving multiple match points and pushing himself into the third set to get a chance at the title. Unfortunately for Carlos, Lorenzo put on an amazing tennis performance and did not give him any chances to win the title. This was Lorenzo's biggest match and win since he turned professional in 2019.
Despite losing the title at Hamburg, Carlos Alcaraz at just 19 years of age has achieved his highest ATP ranking of no.5 after rising a rank with the points from the German Open. It iis worth mentioning that he is the youngest player since Nadal in 2005 to enter the top 5. Similarly, Lorenzo Musetti who was world no. 62 broke into the top. 50 rank for the first time in his career to become world no. 31 after winning the title.
It seems that the future of tennis is promising with both young men in the scene. Their names will definitely become more buzz worthy soon! Congratulations to the both of them for their
stellar performance in the German Open. Finally, we wish the best for both of the players and good luck for the rest of their tours.
