Casper Ruud To Face Novak Djokovic At The Nitto ATP Finals

As the season comes to a close, Casper Ruud is set to play Novak Djokovic at the finals of the Nitto ATP Finals on Monday, 21st November. It will be their fourth meeting and Novak Djokovic is leading Casper Ruud in their head2head 3-0.

Although Ruud has been playing amazing tennis he has not been able to even take a set off any of the Big 3 (Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic) in the past 6 matches. Despite being in amazing form in Turin, he still lost to Rafa in straight sets 7-5, 7-5 in their 3rd group stage match on Thursday.

Five time Nitto ATP Finals Champ Novak Djokovic played 5 very grueling sets in his last 2 matches against Daniil Medvedev 3-6 ,7(7)-6(5), 6(2)-7(7) and Taylor Fritz 7(7)-6(5),7(8)-6(6). Though emerging victorious in both matches, it took him a lot longer than he would have liked. Casper Ruud had a fairly one-sided match against Andrew Rublev in the semi finals and won 6-2, 6-4.

Ruud will be in better shape than Novak Djokovic as they go into the finals on Monday. However, one should never underestimate Djokovic’s ability to play on an indoor hard court despite signs of physical wear and tear.

The finals between them is unpredictable but we do wish that Casper Ruud will finally be able to attain his first victory against one of the Big 3 and to clinch his first Nitto ATP Finals Title on Monday!
