Carlos Alcaraz Defends His Title In Barcelona

World no. 2 and teenage sensation Carlos Alcaraz defends his Barcelona title after defeating world No. 5 Stefanos Tsitsipas in straight sets 6-3,6-4 in an hour and 18 minutes. Carlos Alcaraz played an almost perfect game where he made 26 winners and made only 7 unforced errors.

Carlos Alcaraz now leads Tsitsipas in their head2head meeting 4-0. Their last meeting was on the same court but in the quarterfinals where Alcaraz won in 3-sets before going on to win the title last year.

Carlos Alcaraz made a good choice to not play Monte Carlo Open after the Miami Open to recuperate and recover from his injury. He is now in very good form going into the Madrid Masters, where he will try to defend the title.

The Barcelona title is his third of the season, 9th overall title and 6th on clay. He has an incredible win-loss record of 23-2 this season. If Carlos Alacaraz does defend his title in Madrid he will move back up to the top spot on the ATP Pepperstone Rankings.

An Alcaraz who is fully fit is a danger on all surfaces, especially clay. If he continues to play like this without any injury, I think he stands a good chance to lift the Roland Garros title this year.
